This page explains how content on StudyMastery is researched, written, reviewed and corrected. We publish it because readers deserve to know how the material they are relying on was produced.
Who Writes Here
StudyMastery is written and edited by Faizan Saeed, the site’s founder and editor.
We want to be straightforward about our position. This site is written by someone who researches risk management frameworks closely and explains them clearly — not by a certified risk practitioner offering professional judgment from years in the field. That distinction matters, and we would rather state it plainly than imply credentials we do not hold.
What that means in practice: our authority comes from the sources we cite, not from our own claimed experience. Every substantive claim traces back to a published standard, regulator guidance, or documented case that you can go and read yourself.
How We Research
Articles are researched against primary sources wherever possible. In our subject areas that means:
- Standards bodies — ISO, COSO, NIST, PMI
- Regulators and supervisory bodies — the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, national departments of insurance, data protection authorities
- Peer-reviewed and academic literature where a claim rests on research findings
- Published industry documentation — standard policy forms, rating bureau methodologies, official framework documents
We link directly to these sources in the text. If a claim in one of our articles matters to a decision you are making, follow the link and read the original.
What We Do Not Do
Some commitments are easier to state as things we avoid:
- We do not invent experience. Where an article describes a scenario, we label it as illustrative unless it is a documented, sourced case.
- We do not cite sources we have not checked. If we cannot verify a reference, it does not appear in the article.
- We do not publish statistics without attribution. A figure without a source is a figure we cannot stand behind, so it does not get published.
- We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. No sponsored posts presented as independent content, no paid links inside articles.
Illustrative Examples
Many of our articles include worked examples with specific figures — a $2,000,000 property exposure, a 5% deductible, a 0.05 annual rate of occurrence. These exist to demonstrate how a calculation works.
Unless an article explicitly identifies a real, sourced case, assume the figures are constructed for teaching purposes. They are chosen to make the arithmetic clear, not to represent typical market values in your jurisdiction or industry.
Review and Updates
Regulations and standards change. We review published articles periodically and update them when a standard is revised, a regulation changes materially, or a cited source moves or is withdrawn.
Every article carries a publication date, and updated articles show a modified date. If an article covers a fast-moving regulatory area, check the date before relying on it.
Corrections
We will get things wrong. When we do, we want to know.
Email contact@studymastery.online with the article URL and a description of the error. Where possible, include the source that shows the correct position — it speeds things up considerably.
Our process:
- Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed, with a dated correction note added to the article.
- Minor issues — typos, broken links, formatting — are fixed without a note.
- Substantive changes that alter the meaning of an article are noted at the foot of the page.
We do not quietly delete articles to make an error disappear.
Use of AI Tools
We use AI tools in our workflow the way most publishers now do — for drafting assistance, editing, and structural suggestions. We are stating this openly rather than leaving it unsaid.
What does not change: every article is reviewed and edited by a human before publication, every factual claim is checked against a named source, and we take full responsibility for what appears on this site. A tool that helps draft a sentence does not relieve us of the obligation to verify it.
Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure
StudyMastery may display advertising or use affiliate links to fund the site’s operation. Where an affiliate relationship exists, it is disclosed on the relevant page.
Advertising has no influence on our editorial content. Advertisers do not review articles before publication, cannot request changes, and have no input into which topics we cover or what conclusions we reach.
